UPSTATE, SC — Libertas Academy Boiling Springs (LABSA) and Cherokee Charter Academy (CCA) were recognized for outstanding academic achievement and school culture during the Charter Institute at Erskine Academic Showcase on Wednesday, January 7. The annual event highlights high-performing charter schools across South Carolina for excellence in academics, growth, and school climate.
Libertas Academy Boiling Springs earned multiple honors for the 2024-2025 school year, including $20,000 in academic performance bonuses from the institute based on strong report card outcomes across both elementary and middle school.
In addition, LABSA was named a Gold School of Excellence, placing it among the top 25 percent of South Carolina middle schools in English Language Arts. Both the elementary and middle schools also received Culture of Excellence Awards for earning excellent ratings on the School Climate Indicator.
"This recognition reflects the hard work and dedication of our teachers, staff, and students,” said School Director Celina Patton. “Earning these awards affirms our commitment to strong instruction, a positive school culture, and high expectations for every student we serve."
Cherokee Charter Academy was also honored for exceptional academic performance, earning Silver Local School of Distinction recognition at both the elementary and middle school levels. Additionally, CCA Middle School received a $10,000 academic performance bonus for strong report card results.
The academic performance bonuses earned by both schools will be reinvested directly into their classrooms by awarding teacher bonuses based on academic achievement and growth. These funds serve as a meaningful thank you to educators for their dedication, hard work, and commitment to supporting student achievement and academic excellence.
"To earn School of Distinction status for both our elementary and middle schools demonstrates a powerful consistency in our academic model,” said Elementary Principal Dr. Lindsay Walker. “It proves that from the moment a student enters our building, they are receiving an education that outperforms the local district. We are proud to offer this stable, high-performing pathway to the families of Gaffney and beyond."
"We are incredibly proud of the work happening at Libertas Academy Boiling Springs and Cherokee Charter Academy,” said John Loveday, Chief Operating Officer of Tutelage School Solutions. “Academic success is always at the forefront of what we do, and these recognitions reflect our investment in high-quality education, strong instruction, and ensuring every student has the opportunity to excel."
On the most recent SC READY assessments, CCA outperformed the local school district in both English Language Arts and Mathematics at the elementary school level. CCA Middle School is the highest-performing middle school in the district.
